2001 Backlogs...presuming this webpage is really updated that often and you care enough about amateur code to read this.

Decreased the quality on all of my images in all of my galleries so that it doesn't take two freakin' years to download each one. Took me a while, but I'm certain that the change will make for much happier downloaders in the future. Have done some more work on the fourth Japan image gallery so that might be up before I leave Atlanta to go to Wendy's wedding in Hattiesburg this weekend.

Three cheers for Wendy!
Hip Hip Hooray!

Okay, just one will do. Wendy's page and some wedding planning pictures can be found on her Ole Miss webpage.

Put all my photos under a new menu heading, "Photo Galleries". Pretty simple, eh? Oh, and here's a picture of my new red hair. I know I look very washed out, but hey, it was just me and the camera, buddy, and photoshop won't fix it without messing up how my hair looks, and that was the point, right? Check out the pink highlights where my natural light blond ones used to be. I hope I can still find a job. Well with the rate things are going, pink highlights might help.

Changed just a few things on the bio page so it doesn't read that I still live in Japan. Also started a working page for what I plan to add and alter on this website.

Sorry Jenn, I just had to do it. You can easily change your homepage back. And think of it this way, at least you are now immortalized (well, as immortal as you can get on the often transient and temporary web...almost like on my homepage and my live journal. ::big hug for the jennabug:: I had lots of fun visiting you this week! and...I stole your groovy pen; I'm such a pen-clepto.

Note: For those of you here to download your SOLAR portrait by Tessa, click on the sore thumb of a menu button to the left. Got my hands on a copy of Photoshop 6. Upside: I now have an even more powerful tool to play with. Downside: Because of the changes in how you add text to images, many of the cool fonts are gone, including the one I've used for all my menu buttons and the title bars on some pages. Even though some people have complained about their readability, I liked them. :( Guess I have no excuse now and have to change them.

Author's note, January 2003: These images are no longer available in the same location. Try their new spot.

May 16, 2001...again
Guestbooks. I don't normally like these things. They're used to stroke one's ego, and since I doubt I get enough traffic on this site to warrant one, it'll more than likely just make me feel puny. But since I promised Donna I'd put one up for her to sign (and because I got tired of hearing her whine in that Australian accent, ::kiss:: love you, Donna), I put one up. It's under the fingerprints tab on the menu. I suppose it'll also be nice so I won't have to get signatures from everyone at Seminar house and have one more thing to pack.

Drinking Orange Qoo. Instead of writing papers and packing to leave Japan I finished up a third photo gallery (am still way behind) and rearranged how they open so there are fewer menu buttons to the left. Also changed how the journal entries open so the disclaimer is read every time (and also got to use a new image I was playing around with).

For those of you here to download the West Seminar House group picture, go to the menu to the left and pick the fifth button down that says "West Seminar Picture". Further directions available after you open that page. Hope to have more galleries up soon, but am working on school work at present. Leave Japan in fewer than 3 days...ugh...

Been living more than doing, writing, or updating lately, which is good, but it leaves me with much documentation and catching up to do when I start to slow down (i.e. when my feet feel like they're going to fall off or I run out of clean clothes). Decreased the sizes of some of the larger images so the won't take as long to download, and did a little more complicated work to get the pictures to open up in smaller, separate windows so you don't have to scroll just to see the other half of the picture in the itty-bitty frame. Also decreased some font sizes and image sizes, a few other odds and ends. Will hopefully have another two galleries up and running in a couple of weeks. Headed to Tokyo tomorrow (hopefully Kirk is back, plan to call him before I leave) so will have even more pictures stocked up and ready to post along with all my others not yet posted.

Made a few updates: got rid of the intro screen, deleted the style sheet that wasn't really working well, changed the link colors, couple of buttons to read more easily. Link to Shasticon.org now goes to the main page instead of to the streaming radio server (thanks for the plug, rag :). Considering ditching the format since my menu to the left is too big to make this update content read very easily. Also added a disclaimer about my livejournal entries. My journal entries are personal. Although I wanted people who come to my site to have access to them, there are some words, topics that might offend you or make you think critically of me. If you are a sensitive person or a parent, do not read them. If you decide to read them despite this warning, don't chastise me later about how I write it or the topics I've discussed.

First launch of the Windchaser online. For the sake of good webdesign and continued learning, any suggestions or comments are welcome. Please direct them to mvcox@olemiss.edu (defunct). Many thanks to rag of (link indefinitely broken, see entry 6-11-03) Shasticon.org for allowing me lots of space on his server. Shaz also provides the most heinous streaming music. Listen to your requests any time of day or night, anywhere on the globe (I should know!) or upload songs that we don't have.

If you have any questions about studying abroad, education, culture, or life in Japan, suggestions about places to visit or recommendations for this site, please email the webmistress. Comments of almost any nature are most welcome.
